Cyclone Promotions release statement – Gutierrez fight will NOT be rescheduled
Cyclone Promotions have released a statement this afternoon confirming that Carl Frampton’s fight with Andres Gutierrez has been cancelled completely.
Featherweight Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] was due to make his Belfast homecoming last month against Gutierrez, but the July 29th fight at the SSE Odyssey Arena was cancelled the night before due to a freak injury sustained by the Mexican visitor.
The aftermath of the cancellation saw Cyclone stress that it was a postponement and that they were in talks with Gutierrez’s team to refix the fight, with ‘Jaguarcito’ suggesting a November return.
Frampton on the other hand, whose future with Cyclone has been subject to intense speculation, stated that he wanted to jump straight back into a world title fight.
Today Cyclone have confirmed that the fight with Gutierrez will not happen as “a proposed date in November was unsuitable to all parties.”

Since the unfortunate postponement of the fight between Carl Frampton and Andres Gutierrez on Saturday 29 July 2017, Cyclone Promotions, The SSE Arena, Belfast, boxing authorities and relevant broadcasters have been working to agree a new date for the fight. Unfortunately a proposed date in November was unsuitable to all parties. It is therefore with regret that we are announcing the cancellation of this event.
We are all profoundly disappointed for the fans, the boxers, and those who have worked with and supported us on this event.
Tickets purchased online or over the phone with Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded within 3 – 7 working days. Customers who purchased tickets via a Ticketmaster outlet, the SSE Arena Box Office in person or any other private outlet please return to your point of purchase. We are currently working to arrange a date for a new fight and we are confident that Carl Frampton will become world champion again.

The announcement comes less than 24 hours after BBC sources claimed that ‘The Jackal’ was set to leave the outfit, with Cyclone declining to comment on whether there was a rift in the camp and if Frampton was set to depart.
While the final sentence of the above statement would seem to suggest that Frampton is still a part of the McGuigan-ran team, the timing of the release and the lack of comment on yesterday’s reports only serves to increase speculation.
