Ireland continue good start to Dublin Round Robin with win over Germany

The Irish B team moved to the top of the Dublin International Round Robin table this morning with a 4-3 win over Germany.

Stevie McKenna, George Bates, Kenny Okungbowa, and Steven Donnelly recorded wins in Dublin – Rio Olympian Donnelly also won last night.

Bates scored an impressive unanimous decision win over 2010 Youth Olympic and World champion, and WSB and APB stalwart, Artur Brill

Okungbowa, fresh from his victory over Rio Olympian Paul Omba Biongolo yesterday, sealed the win for Ireland today with a win over Nikolas Weizman.

In his Senior International debut, Wexford youngster Connor Jordan dropped a unanimous decision to Salah Abrahim in the opening bout of the session. Dean Gardiner and Wayne Kelly lost to Russian duo Artyum Solslekkov and Altay Dyakonov on 4-1 and 5-0 split and unanimous verdicts.

Note: Children with adults are admitted free for today’s and this evening’s sessions.

Ireland A meet a top class France side tonight. Boxing begins at 7pm. Russia take on Italy this afternoon.
