Dan McShane given opportunity to banish demons in comeback fight

Dan McShane [9(3)-1(1)] will jump straight back into a big fight when he returns to the ring next month.

It will be over two years since his last contest when the Belfast man steps through the ropes on the inaugural Kieran Farrell Irish show at the Devenish Complex, and the Belfast super feather will face the man who was a big factor in this extended absence.

‘Insane’ McShane will rematch Hungarian journeyman Zoltan Horvath [2(2)-38(5)-1] over four rounds on the April 22nd bill.

In his last bout, against the same opponent back in March 2015 at the Andersonstown Leisure Centre, McShane fell to a second round technical knockout defeat as he was forced to pull out in the second round against Horvath due to dislocating his shoulder in a clinch.

The 41 year old Magyar has not fought since last Feburary himself, but has been roused from retirement for a return innings against McShane.

While the fight may not be important in terms of titles, it is an opportunity to banish demons for McShane, who is now trained by former Commonwealth heavyweight champion Martin Rogan.

Farrell’s first Belfast show – titled ‘A New Era’ – will take place at the Devenish Complex on Saturday April 22nd. The card will be headlined by Feargal McCrory in an eight-round clash with Jay Carney, and will also feature Sean McGlinchey, Mathew Fitzsimons, Joe Hillerby, Sean Magee, Ger Healy, and Joe Fitzpatrick.
