First two pro opponents confirmed for Ray Moylette

The first two pro opponents for Ray Moylette have been confirmed.

The Mayo light welter has two dates scheduled for the month of March, debuting on Saturday in London on an Assassin Boxing show, before a St Patrick’s Weekend clash in Boston.

Moylette will make his pro bow in a four rounder at the Connaught Rooms, and his first opponent will be reigning Slovakian champion Ivan Godor [17(6)-41(8)-4].

The 37 year old, 62-fight veteran rules the roost in his native land, and fulfils the role of durable journeyman when abroad. A regular on the British scene, Godor is a relatively advanced first opponent for the 26 year old Islandeady man and offers the chance to make comparisons with a number of British prospects who all faced him a lot further on in their careers.

The Slovak has fought and lost to Ahmet Patterson (PTS10, 11th fight), Tyrone Nurse (PTS6, 20th fight), Martin Gethin (PTS10, 24th fight), Maxi Hughes (PTS6, 7th fight), Johnny Garton (PTS8, 9th fight), and Bradley Saunders (TKO3, 4th fight) among others.

Should he, as expected, win this weekend, there will be no big celebrations for Moylette who will go straight into preparations for his next bout in Massachusetts.

Here on Saturday March 18th at the House of Blues he will face Matt Probin [2(0)-2(0)], again over four rounds.

The Maine boxer has an extensive background in mixed martial arts and Muay Thai and has featured on two Murphys Boxing cards before, winning on their show in New Hampshire back in September against Anthony Everett, while he also upset home favourite Stephon Burgette in October. Probin’s two defeats came against hot prospects Ray Olivera Jr and Yurik Mamedov.

It’s a busy and solid start to life in the pros for the former amateur star who has the tools to be fast-tracked.
