“I don’t know how he looks himself in the mirror” – former foe hits out at Chunky Devine
Danny Cassius Connor [16(2)-9(1)-2] has thrown a verbal barrage at Michael Devine, accusing the Wexford-Luton lightweight of being afraid to face him.
The duo fought twice in 2014, their first fight ending in a draw after less than two rounds due to an accidental clash of heads which left Connor cut and believing that the collision was in no way accidental.
They would then rematch in the quarter finals of Prizefighter – which was eventually won by Jono Carroll – with Devine flooring Connor en-route to a majority decision win.
‘Chunky’ Devine [14(4)-5(2)-1] is now set for a BBBoC Southern Area title fight next month with friend and former gym-mate Ben Day – something which doesn’t sit well with Connor.
The 30 year old told IFL TV that “one person I would like to fight is that little wanker Michael Devine. He somehow skipped the queue ahead of me and is fighting Ben Day. I don’t know how the f*ck that’s happened because he lost four out of his last five.”
“I’m sick to death of chasing him and telling him, but when he turns into a real man he’ll come and fight me. I don’t know how he looks himself in the mirror to be honest.”
“Nothing personal, but he’s got no arsehole.”
Connor does not read to much into their previous meetings, and explained how he keeps hanging onto this thing, where he’s saying that he beat me in Prizefighter so he has beaten me now, but what he doesn’t remember is the hiding I was giving him in the first fight before he nutted me.”
“He’s going to cling on to that Prizefighter victory for the rest of his life, but listen, I was weight-drained, and he barely beat me.”
