Mike ‘The Rebel’ Perez to make comeback
Cork Cuban Mike Perez [21(13)-2(1)-1] is scheduled to make a return to the ring next month.
‘The Rebel’ has not fought since his one-round loss to Alexander Povetkin in Russia last year, and will get back into fighting action against Avery Gibson [8(2)-5(0)-4] on Thursday December 8th at the Orange County Fairgrounds in California.
Former WSB fighter Gibson comes to win and is tough to look good against, scoring numerous upset victories over prospects in the past few years.
It had seemed that Perez would retire after the loss to Povetkin, which came after draw with Carlos Takam and a split-decision loss to Bryant Jennings, however the 31 year old southpaw has started training Stateside with Virgil Hunter for a comeback.
Also slated to appear on the bill in California next month are 2012 Olympic silver medalist Tugstsogt Nyambayar of Mongolia, Carlos Licona, Oscar Molina, and Anthony Hess Jr.
