Niall Kennedy to fight southpaw on Saturday

Niall Kennedy [6(3)-0] claims he is ready to show his true potential on Saturday night and Gheorghe Danut [9(1)-22(3)-7] will be the man he will look to do that against.

Red Corner Promotions confirmed the Romanian as the Wexford puncher’s opponent for the National Stadium-hosted Inception show this Saturday night.

Formerly fighting in between welter and super middle, Danut has recently returned to the ring following a six year hiatus and now trades leather in the big man division.

Danut has only been stopped three time in 22 defeats, suggesting that he is something of a survival specialist, although he was finished off inside the distance in his only fight at heavyweight

A stoppage win on a night where fellow big men Sean Turner and Con Sheehan both fight in Belfast may prove something of a statement, and based on size alone this would seem likely, but Kennedy still needs to be wary against an awkward and tricky southpaw.
