Two weight WBO World Champion Vasyl Lomachenko, WBO featherweight World champion Oscar Valdez and World title challenger Zou Shiming just to name a few.

Mick Conlan can take plenty of comfort from how Top Rank have moved their London 2012 Olympians over the last four years.

However, the Belfast man thinks on a much bigger scale. and when discussing what he believes Bob Arum and his promotional team can do for him, he doesn’t bring up the aforementioned. Conlan aspires beyond ‘just’ World titles and wants to emulate Hall of Famers en-route to establishing himself as “the greatest Irish fighter of all time” and a fight legend known around the World.

When the 24 year old finger-flipping World amateur gold medalist studied Arum’s promotional resumé it was the former Olympians who became all time legends that stood out. He believes he is now in the right hands to emulate the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, and Miguel Cotto who all worked with the straight-talking promoter at one stage.

“Look at what Bob has done with people in the past. You have Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto all coming from the Olympic Games and look at them now they are all legends of the sport,” Conlan told Sky Sports.

“I believe he will do the same thing for me. He will lead me on a path to become Ireland’s greatest ever fighter and one of the greatest ever as well.”

The younger brother of World title hopeful Jamie begins the journey to the top in New York on Friday March 17 and he couldn’t be more excited.

“It all starts next year in Maidison Square Garden on Paddy’s Day. The 17th of March it’s all going off. It will be unbelievable. The amount of people from Ireland and the UK who have already booked flights and are asking me when tickets are out is unbelievable.”

“I am going to have a serious amount of support. It’s going to be crazy.”
