Fighter Carl McDonald ready to “just do what we do”
The buzz of a fighter’s first professional bout is one of the best experiences of any boxer’s career. There are limitless possibilities, World title dreams, and the excitement of entering into a new style of fighting and ‘sitting down’ on your shots.
Tallaght’s Carl McDonald is no different. The super bantamweight fights on the MHD Promotions ‘Another Level’ dinner show at the Europa Hotel in Belfast tomorrow night, and admits that “I’m living for it.”
The Dubliner makes the trip up the M1 with 25 of his nearest and dearest, and told Irish-Boxing.com that “they’re all as excited as I am, except my two boys, I think they’re even more excited than me!”
“Fight week has been great, it’s exciting and I’m delighted it’s finally here.”
“I can’t wait to just get to the dressing room and get ready to rock.”
In Belfast McDonald will face Polandβs Kamil Jaworek [3(1)-2(1)], quite a good debut opponent, and he described how “he has a winning record anyway so it should be a good fight.”
In terms of the fight itself, the 2015 Intermediate champion is reassuringly relaxed and promises to “just do what we do.”
“My coaches have put a game plan in place so I’m happy enough with that.”
“I predict a happy crowd and a W on the night.”
“No pressure.”
