Selby: I could fight Frampton before the year is out
Carl Frampton will be in Cardiff tomorrow night as Cyclone Promotions promote a nine fight show in Wales.
With Andrew Selby on the TV bill there is no doubt IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby will be present too and according to the ‘Welsh Mayweather’ could meet in in a ring not just ringside by the time the year is out.
The undefeated former Martin Lindsay foe is hoping to be out again this Summer and could face Josh Warrington in Leeds a fight he is very confident of winning.
If Frampton over comes a formidable test, Leo Santa Cruz in New York on July 30, Selby see’s the pair meeting come Winter time.
“You never know,” he said when asked what were his plans. “If Frampton beats Santa Cruz then it could happen at the end of this year. Me vs. Frampton.”
Again Ireland’s first unified World champ has to overcome a three weight World champ for that to happen and Selby like most views the mega bout as a 50/50 clash.
“I think it’s a proper 50/50 fight. Really, they are both Super-bantamweights, so the weight and size won’t matter. It’s a close fight.”
