Stoppage win for Darren O’Neill in Olympic Qualifiers
Darren O’Neill ended Ireland’s day in the European Olympic Qualifiers with a bang this evening.
The Kilkenny southpaw stopped Sweden’s Gabriel Richards in the 1st round of their heavyweight contest.
The victory see’s O’Neill progress into the last-eight of the European Olympic qualifiers tonight.
O’Neill represented Ireland at middleweight in London 2012 but is bidding to qualify as a heavyweight this time round.
O’Neill’s win followed defeat for Micheal O’Reilly earlier in the afternoon and a morning win for David Oliver Joyce.
