Paddy Murphy confident of title win in ring return
Paddy Murphy [11(5)-1(0)-2] returns to the ring next month after over a year away from boxing, and the Newry welterweight plans to immediately grab a title.
Murphy faces Jack Brubacker [9(4)-1(0)] for the OPBF title at the Sydney Olympic Park. The card is headlined by Dublin lightweight and Australian champion Darragh ‘Super’ Foley who takes on Brandon Ogilvie for the WBA Oceania title, and also features Galway’s Gearoid Clancy in a rematch with Brendan Saunders for the IBO Oceania title.
Speaking to T2T Boxing, a calm Murphy outlined his plans ahead of the bout, commenting that “it’s known I’ve had over a year out of the ring so I’m just concentrating on my own things at the minute.”
On his highly-rated opponent, the unphased 28 year old reasoned that “I know he’s tall, he’s strong, but I don’t want to dwell on that I just want to work on my own things first.”
“I’m looking to mix it up, try new things, and show everything on the night.”
Ahead of the clash for the continental belt, the returning Murphy revealed that he is confident of scoring a victory and kicking on, and explained that “I’m keen to get back into boxing and pick up a good win on March 12th.”
“I’ll take Jack’s title, defend it a few times and then we’ll see what happens from there.”
