Stokes looking forward to fighting ‘inspiration’ Adam Nolan
Drogheda welterweight Martin Stokes fought himself into a dream clash at the weekend.
The Holy Family youngster defeated highly rated Caoimhin Hynes in a tight semi final on Saturday night and will now face Olympian Adam Nolan in Friday’s final.
Stokes spoke to irish-boxing.com afterwards and admitted that βit was a scrappy fight.β
Many thought that Hynes would have too much for the Intermediate champ, but to softly-spoken Stokes prevailed and spoke highly of his opponent, noting that βI know Caoimhin, he’s a very experienced boxer as well, he’s very good.β
βBut I went in there confident, as any boxer should, and I did what I have to do.β
Now the Louth man is faced with Wexford’s Adam Nolan, a boxer he admits to having admired growing up, explaining that βit’ll be the biggest fight on my record.β
βI looked up to Adam Nolan for years so it will be good to hop in with someone who inspired you.β
