OZ champ Foley: I will beat Geraghty and prove I am the best Irish lightweight
Australian Champion Darragh Foley wants to ‘get it on’ with ‘Pretty Boy’ Declan Geraghty.
The Dublin lightweight has called for the former two weight amateur champion to face him in an Irish title fight next March.
Foley recently confirmed himself as Australia’s number 1 lightweight stopping Miles Zalewski within a round to claim the domestic strap Down Under late last month.
Now the 27 year old is determined to prove he is Ireland’s best and wants to fight Geraghty to prove it.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com Foley said:
“I’m the best in Australia and I will prove I’m the best in Ireland, Declan Geraghty lets get it on! How does an Irish title fight in March sound?”
MGM’s Geraghty has been targeting a move to super featherweight, but has also expressed a desire to win the Irish title. He claims a number of Belfast fighters across the super featherweight and lightweight divide were offered the chance to fight him on November 7, but declined.
An all Irish battle would certainly appeal to the slick Dubliner, but the likes of Paul Hyland Jr and Ciaran Bates may also be interested in an Irish title fight with Foley or indeed Geraghty.
