Lets do it again! Cummings and Meli open to rematch

Let’s do it again!

That was the general consensus after Conrad Cummings and Alfredo Meli’s exciting Waterfront Hall-hosted ‘All On The Line’ clash ended in a draw on Friday night.

The fans in attendance were certainly keen to see a repeat, Cyclone Promotions’s Blaine McGuigan wasn’t adverse to doing it again, and the fighters themselves were keen on a rematch.

Cummings felt he won the fight, and claims he was thrown of his gameplan by the fact he registered a first round knock down. The Tyrone puncher was prompted to load up searching for a statement-making knockout win.

“It was ten hard rounds and I thought I did enough to win the fight,” Cummings said post fight.

“The worst thing that happened me was getting the knockdown in the first round. I was then loading up and that is the one thing my trainer Shane McGuigan told me not to do.”

“I have respect for Fredo and let us do it again. A rematch,” he added.

Meli echoed the ‘fans were the winners’ sentiment after the all-action 10 rounds, and also stressed he thought he won the fight.

“It was a cracking fight from start to end and I have lots of respect for Conrad.

“The real winners were the fans. They got value for money, while all the two of us got a hiding

“The two of us lost our unbeaten records but that is the way it goes in boxing.

“I thought I won the fight, but I would love a rematch. We will just have to wait and see what happens,” added Meli.
