Promoter Steve Goodwin: Tyrone McCullagh can be a World Champion
British boxing promoter Steve Goodwin believes he has a future champion on his hands in Tyrone McCullagh [1(1)-0]. The British small-hall king snapped the Derry starlet up to a three year contract last week.
Goodwin has high hopes for Ireland’s last ever amateur featherweight champion and the 2010 European bronze medalist, explaining that “we are delighted to welcome Tyrone to our team. We are not looking at a boxer here who’s aim is domestic honours, we are looking at a super talent who can go onto the world stage and be Ireland’s next superstar.”
On his plans for the 25 year old, Goodwin elaborated that he is “planning for Tyrone to fight in Belfast as well as coming to the UK shores to fight on our shows as well.”
McCullagh has certainly flown under the radar, but now with strong promotional backing we can expect White Chocolate to become a lot more prominent on the Irish boxing scene.
