Fight Report: Nobody in the world can stop Anthony Joshua
This was no test for Anthony Joshua. He destroyed Gary Cornish with a first round KO to win the Commonwealth Heavyweight crown at the 02 Arena, London.
Cornish may be taller with a bigger reach but nobody can endure Joshua’s ominous power.
AJ boxed well form the opening bell and Cornish was sent to the canvas early with a thumping right hand.
He showed courage to get to his feet but Joshua was ruthless in his attack and he soon had Cornish back on the floor.
He now has 14 wins with 14 KO’s and looks unstoppable despite not yet being tested with world class opposition.
Next up on December 12th, it’s the man who beat Joshua as an amateur, the outspoken Dillian Whyte, for the British heavyweight title.
On the undercard Whyte claimed the vacant WBC International silver heavyweight title after a third round KO of Brian Minto.
In the first two rounds Whyte connected with some heavy shots but he was on the receiving end of punches too.
However he was never in trouble and at the end of round one he dropped his opponent with a jab followed by a right hand.
The one sided clash came to an end at the beginning of round three as Whyte landed with a right hand then a left hook to the head.
Minto’s legs wobbled and the American went down and failed to get up.
It was a performance that would not have worried Anthony Joshua but Whyte claimed after the victory that he had a shoulder injury which prevented him from throwing his jab more.
Nothing significant was learned from Saturday night in London.
Anthony Joshua, 25, is on his way to becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
It would take a special performance to beat him as he continues on his journey in pursuit of greatness.
