Nolan up and running with victory in Baku

Wexford welterweight Adam Nolan gave Ireland the perfect start to day two of the boxing programme in Baku with a comprehensive victory over Albania’s Alban Beqiri.

Nolan won all three rounds, on all three judges scorecards, to run out comfortable winner in the round of 32 bout (30-27 x3).

While the 28 year old is a London 2012 Olympian, he is still yet to win a major international medal and will be looking to change that stat at the inaugural European Games.

Now just two fights from winning a medal, Nolan will meet his former Italia Thunder team mate, Dario Morello, in the Last 16 on Saturday (17:00 Irish time).
