Spike O’Sullivan and Eamonn O’Kane agree to Irish mega fight?
THERE is Twitter talk of a possible Eamonn O’Kane versus Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan domestic dust up taking place in August.
The Cork middleweight’s new promoter Ken Casey of the Drop Kick Murphy’s and Murphy’s Boxing had mentioned a big Irish homecoming in the Summer month after ‘Spike’s’ knock out win on the undercard of James DeGale’s World title win over Andre Dirrell.
An outdoor venue outside Dublin was mentioned and it seem’s they are eyeing up a mouthwatering clash with Derry favourite O’Kane to put bums on seats.
Both fighters have secured 160lbs World rankings over the last 12 years with O’Kane moving into the IBF top 3 while O’Sullivan’s NABA title win should see him move into the WBA top 10.
Now the two World rated middleweights look set to collide in August. After seeing Irish-boxing.com’s ‘What Irish fight would you most like to see’ poll, O’Kane’s coach and manager Paddy Fitzpatrick was first to express a desire to make the match between the former sparring partners and friends on Twitter.
@litl_lady_t @irishboxingcom @kingkane11 @spike_osullivan That’s a good fight and makes alot of sense for both men. #IrelandWouldLoveIt
