VIDEO: DeGale dedicates World title win to Darren Sutherland
JAMES DeGale dedicated his super middleweight World title win to the late Irish great Darren Sutherland.
‘Chunky’ was a former amateur rival of the Irish favourite, fighting him five times, losing four, with his sole win in the rivalry coming in the semi-finals of the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
The 29-year-old has fought with ‘Dazzler’s’ initials on his shorts since the Dubliner’s 2009 passing and, after he beat Andre Dirrell to claim the IBF World super middleweight title in Boston tonight, he dedicated the win to Sutherland.
