Hearn Promises Dudey World title tilt if he beats Prescott
By Jonny Stapleton
Eddie Hearn has guaranteed Paul McCloskey a world title fight If he defeats Breidis Prescott in the Odyssey Arena on Saturday.
McCloskey’s mouth watering clash with the hard hitting Columbian is an official WBA world title eliminator, but the Matchroom boss revealed that doesn’t automatically guarantee a bout with WBA champ Marcos Maidana.
Hearn claims negotiations would still have to take place and both parties would have to reach an agreement. However, despite highlighting potential world title tilt hiccups has promised Dudey a shot at a prestigious world crown.
“The person who loses this fight will be eliminated. The will lose the chance to fight for a world title fight. I can guarantee if Paul wins this fight I will secure him a world title fight. There is absolutely no doubt about that. Whether it is Khan or Maidana it doesn’t matter this is a high profile fight between two of the best fighters in the division. I am delighted to bring this to Belfast. I know the atmosphere will be second to none,” Hearn explained.
“I just want Paul McCloskey to be world champion an we won’t stop until we get that. In my opinion taking this fight was the quickest way possible for us to achieve that goal. We are obviously already talking to world champions as I am sure Team Prescott are. I know when Paul McCloskey is successful we will deliver him a world title shot 100 percent.”
