Fryers warns Morris against underestimating his power and tells fans they are in for a treat

JAMES Fryers warns people against under estimating his power claiming he can bang as well as box.

The 22 year old lightweight prospect faces a fellow unbeaten Belfast puncher Mark Morris in the Anderstown Leisure Centre onSaturday night and the bout is being billed as puncher versus stylist.

However, Fryers is adamant he packs a punch as well as a boasts a skills set and claims the fact he only has one stoppage on his record is a result of his desire for rounds as well as wins.

” I think my power is under estimated because I’ve never went out to knock out any of my opponents. I’ve always went out to get the rounds in, but last time someone questioned my power I went out in my last fight and demonstrated it(with a second round stoppage of Sandor Horvath),” Fryers told Irish-boxing.com.

The local derby has really added to the Mark Dunlop MHD Promotions card and despite Morris’s recent inactivity is generating fight week excitement. However, Fryer’s cuts a relaxed figure, and claims he is approaching this fight like any other. The undefeated is expecting a challenge, but is confident he will pass a test on the Test card.

Fryers also told fight fans to expect eight entertaining rounds as he goes to battle on a card topped by an intriguing James Tennyson versus Kris Hughes clash.

“I was surprised to hear I was fighting Mark because of his recent inactivity I thought he had packed it in but I guess not,” Fryers added.

“I think it will be a hard fight, we’ve never crossed paths before in the amateur game, but he is a good fighter. I’m not looking at it as a derby match up, I’m just looking at it as a normal regular fight. I’ve fought fighters already with winning records who have came to win and I’ve disappointed them so I’m hoping for something similar again

“I see the fight probably more than likely staying at a high hard pace for the full 8 rounds. I’m going to predict a great entertaining fight, Marks a good lad and a good fighter so the crowd will be in for a real treat.”
