McGuigan: Frampton will knock out Rigondeaux

CARL Frampton will knock out Guillermo Rigondeaux claims Barry McGuigan.

However, ‘The Jackal’ won’t be registering a TKO victory that could put him on the Pound for Pound list in his next fight, but when the time is right adds the Irish Boxing Legend.

After the manner in which the IBF super bantamweight champion of the World took out mandatory challenger Chris Avalos on Saturday night a fight with the Cuban sensation no one else wants seems inevitable, but mentor McGuigan claims the mouthwatering clash isn’t on the immediate horizon.

The undefeated Irish sensation has smaller fish to fry and a bigger pay to collect and is keen to settle his long running differences in Scott Quigg first. True Quigg certainly isn’t the fighter WBA and WBO champ ‘Rigo’ is, but it is the fight the fans want to see and one that generates more cash and for now possibly interest.

“I’ve always said that he’s the hardest puncher at super-bantamweight in the world,” McGuigan said on Saturday night.

“There isn’t a harder puncher. Everybody is screaming about Guillermo Rigondeaux but look at what happened the last time he fought a Japanese guy [Hisashi Amagasa], a big stringy kid who couldn’t really hit, and he was dropped twice and badly hurt.

“When Frampton hits him, he’s going to knock him out — but we’ll hit him when I want him to hit him. It’s not an exciting fight at the minute, it’s not something that attracts us. Quigg does, Santa Cruz does.

“This guy is the best super-bantamweight in the world and we’re going to prove it.”
