O’Neill picks up Best Home Boxer award as Irish selection take on France
European Youth silver medallist Cheyanne O’Neill claimed victory and the Best Home Boxer award at tonight’s meeting between an Edenderry Irish selection and a French selection at a sold-out St Brigid’s BC meeting in Offaly.
Ciara Sheedy and Nicole Agnew also won against a strong French side who claimed a 6-3 victory on the night.
The Sheedy versus Belinda Limuka clash was a repeat of the 2012 European Union final in Hungary which the French light-welter won.
Liam Brereton of the St Brigid’s BC, commentating after tonight’s clash, said all the Irish boxers gave fine accounts of themselves.
Both sides will meet again tomorrow evening at the same venue. Boxing begins at 7:30pm.
