Warren: Ormond and Flanagan to be rescheduled in the New Year
STEPHEN Ormond and Terry Flanagan’s WBO World title eliminator will be rescheduled for 2015 claims Francis Warren of Fight Night Events.
The popular Dubliner was due to fight the undefeated Manchester lightweight for the right to become WBO mandatory in Sheffield this Saturday night.
However, the WBO European champion was pulled out of the clash by his coach Pascal Collins as he was ill.
It is a disappointing end to what has proven a disappointing year for a fighter itching to make a mark at World level, but he will get the opportunity to add Flanagan to his record in 2015.
Warren said, “It’s disappointing to hear that Stephen has had to pull out of the fight due to a virus, but obviously his health is a priority and if he’s not fit to fight then he should withdraw. We’ll look to reschedule what is a fantastic showdown between two of the best lightweights in the domestic division for next year, but for now we’ll ensure that Terry’s hard work hasn’t gone to waste and he’ll still fight on the card.”
