Adam Booth: I will demand the best from Andy Lee and expect the best Korobov
ADAM Booth believes Andy Lee will be faced with the best Matt Korobov come December 13.
The Limerick fighter and the former standout amateur look set trade leather for the vacant WBO middleweight title in Las Vegas on December 13 and London based trainer believes its a genuine 50/50 clash.
Korobov was nothing short of a sensational amateur, but the fighter, who won World Championships gold in 2005 and 2007 hasn’t set the pro World on fire.
The Russian hasn’t quite disappointed and is unbeaten in 24 fights, but has yet to win major honours or even challenge at the top of the pile.
However, Booth claims come World title fight a fighter who has quality if not explosive form will be at his best in Vegas pre Christmas, but remains confident former World title challenger Lee can become Ireland’s second reigning World champ.
“He was the best in the world as an amateur, sharp, experienced, strong, southpaw it is a genuine 50/50 fight,” Booth told IFL TV.
“He hasn’t necessarily caught fire the way Top Rank had planed or expected, but in a World title fight that’s irrelevant. A world title fight becomes a game changer you will always up your game I expect the best of Matty Korobov, and I will demand the best from Andy Lee. It is definitely a winnable fight.”
