Fighting Irish
23 October 2008 – Press Release
The Fighting Irishmen Exhibit is travelling to The Ulster American Folk Park in County Tyrone, just outside of Omagh, they will be taking the Fighting Irishmen exhibit as their featured attraction for the 2009 calendar year.
The exhibit will open approximately May 1, 2009 and will be available to the general public through 2009. The exhibit will feature a number of my paintings including The Fighting Irishmen Mural, John Duddy and also a commission for the event of the current Irish Olympic Boxing Medalists.
The Fighting Irishmen has had extraordinary success since opening at the Irish Arts Center in the fall 2006. It has been the subject of a feature documentary by the BBC, which aired in Northern Ireland during the holiday season of 2006. It was the highest rated program in that time slot in the history of the BBC, Northern Ireland.
The exhibit was featured at the South Street Seaport Museum in New York as their main attraction in 2007 and was most recently featured at the John J. Burns library at Boston College in Boston, Massachusetts. At each venue, the exhibit attracted widespread media coverage from TV, radio and print media. We expect the same interest in 2009, when the exhibit opens in Ulster.
