Wilton to challenge rising star Kal Yafai for Commonwealth title in Dublin

LUKE Wilton has been afforded the opportunity to steal the spotlight from rising Matchroom star Kal Yafai in Dublin on August 30.

The former British flyweight challenger will move up to super fly to challenge for the heavy handed prospects Commonwealth title in the National Stadium on the undercard of Matthew Macklin’s world title eliminator.

Yafai, who Mick Conlan beat as an amateur, dropped from bantamweight to claim the title with a two round stoppage win over Yakub Kareem in May and will make his first defence against Belfast’s ‘Winky’.

Having impressed his way to 10-0 the champion will deemed favourite going into the fight, but Wilton will be hoping to stop Yafai in his fast rising tracks.
