Kavanagh ready to put on a show against former world title challenger
JAMIE Kavanagh admits there is nothing he can bring to his next bout that opponent Matt Clark hasn’t seen.
The 40 year old, who provides opposition for the Golden Boy prospect in the House of Blues on Thursday night, is a veteran of 56 fights, has held the NABF lightweight title and challenged for the WBO world title.
Kavanagh, is all to aware ‘Cold Blood’, who boasts over 40 wins and 18 knockouts, has seen it all in the ring and knows he brings nothing new to the party, but he plans to put on a show on his return to Boston regardless.
“I am sure whatever I bring to fight night won’t be anything he has seen before. He has been around the block and fought all different fighters, styles, sizes and so fort, but I love the test and I am really looking forward to putting on a good show,” Kavanagh told Irish-boxing.com.
The American based ‘Nuisance’, who put his sole career defeat behind him last time out in the House of Blues, is all too aware he faces a tough challenge on Thursday, but claims he has trained accordingly and is in confident mood.
“Its a tough test alright, some might say it is the toughest of my career. Knowing that I face a tough test has given me an extra push in training.
“He has challenged for titles and has been in with some big names so it will be nice to add him to my record when I come away with the win on Thursday. I think it will put me up there with the type of people he has fought. It is a big challenge and I am looking forward to it.
“In boxing you have to keep passing tests and if I win this I get to give myself another big test.”
