Hatton: Throwback fighter Frampton will look sensational on Friday
‘THROWBACK’ fighter Carl Frampton will look sensational against Hugo Cazares on Friday before going on to beat Leo Santa Cruz to claim the WBC World title, according to Ricky Hatton.
‘The Hitman’ is in Belfast with his charge Ryan Burnett, who fights for the sixth time as a pro on the This is Belfast Card and whilst he has been predicting World title glory down the road for his charge he believes big things are just around the corner for the Cyclone Promotions puncher.
Speaking in Belfast ‘The Hitman’ said of ‘The Jackal’
“Carl fights a former World champion and he has to be on his game or the World title dream goes out the window. He has got to stay focused and I am sure he will. “I think he will look sensational again on Friday night and then go on to the Leo Santa Cruz fight and that is a fight I believe he can win as well.” Hatton believes Frampton is a World champion in the making and the perfect role model for his Belfast fighters Burnett and indeed Sonny Upton. The former World champion seems to have as much admiration for ‘The Jackal’s’ attitude and approach as he does his talent. He praised the Belfast 27 year old for hunting down the WBC strap. “This fight sums Frampton up,” Hatton added when speaking about Frampton’s world title eliminator with No.1 ranked contender Cazares. “He is a throwback fighter. He is a very humble guy he doesn’t do any shouting or mouthing off. He is focusing on the WBC title, the green belt, which is the main one and no disrespect to any other fighters, but you see some fighters look for a nice clean route to titles. “Carl is gunning for a title and he takes on a fighter above him in hue he rankings. That is what it’s all about. He wants to prove himself and show he deserves a shot and that is what he doing by fighting Cazares. If you didn’t think Carl Frampton was world class or worthy of a title fight a win on Friday night will put those thoughts to bed. He can prove to everyone and himself he is ready for a world title fight.”
