By IABA Press Officer Bernard O’Neill

Ireland will send teams to the Felix Stamm and Gee Bee Elite tournaments, in Warsaw, Poland and Helsinki, Finland in April. Irish head coach Billy Walsh said that the squads will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

David Oliver Joyce and Dean Gardiner claimed gold and silver at the 32nd Gee Bee tournament last April. Team Ireland are building up toward the Women’s European Championships in Bucharest, Romania in June and the Men’s EU Championships at a host country to be confirmed in July.

The Men’s EU Championships is slated to return to the international fixture list this year after a five-year sabbatical. On the last occasion that Ireland competed in the EU Championships, Odense, Denmark 2009, the entire nine-strong squad claimed three gold, three silver and three bronze medals and walked off with the Best Team award.
