Hutchinson out to make history tonight
JOHN Hutchinson hopes to make Irish boxing history in Reading tonight, as he bids to become Ireland’s first ever professional champion to hail from Donegal.
The ballsy ‘Buncrana Banger’ fights ‘Connemara Kid’ for the right to be called light middleweight champion of Ireland and if his hand is raised live on Channel 5 he will have the honour of being the first green belt holder to hail from his native County.
And the chance to make history hasn’t been lost on the 27 year old.
“The Irish title means the world to me. It also means the world to me to make history. Buncrana is a great town and everyone is behind me, willing me to make them and myself proud,” Hutchinson told Irish-boxing.com.
“I’d go down jump over his back fence and box him in his own back garden for this title.”
