We are back in the intimate setting of the Warehouse for what is easily JB Promotions‘ best card to date.
As well as a mouthwatering BUI light welterweight Celtic title fight between Tony McGlynn and Dave Ryan, there is an out-of-the-blue and eagerly anticipated early days all-Irish fight between Sean Murray and Shane Meehan on the Mayday Mayhem bill.
There are some predicting Ireland’s favourite away fighter, Allan White could make things interesting for the returning Declan Geraghty, while Octavian Gratti will prove a good acid test for the hyped power of Peter Carr.
Irish title hopeful Senan Kelly also trades leather at the Red Cow when he fights Dale Arrowsmith.

FIGHT 1
The main card is just starting now at the Red Cow with Peter Carr versus Octavian Gratii up first
Peter Carr is controlling the centre of the ring and landing multiple shots on his Romanian opponent
Caicedo is a durable and dangerous fighter but Lewis is a far more technical fighter
Peter Carr is getting some good jabs in and he has hurt Gratii a few times in the first round
This is a controlled display from the Crumlin fighter so far
He is throwing lots of straight jabs and landing lots of devastating punches
Peter Carr has easily won all three rounds in the contest so far
A nice shot from Gratii at the start of the fourth round but Carr still looks very comfortable
Gratii is showing lots of grit and determination in his 70th fight

FIGHT 2
Dubliner Cain Lewis up against Spaniard Yin Caicedo now at super featherweight
Lewis getting some nice combination punches into the body of Caicedo
Lewis controlling the centre of the ring in the first round of this contest
Some quality body shots from Lewis into the body again there and he is on top so far
Lewis was the most impressive but Caicedo has an awkward, languid style, which makes it difficult to hit him at times
The second round starting now
Some nice jabs to the head followed by a belter of punch to the body by Lewis
Caicedo is lunging forward wildly but Lewis counters with another
Caicedo coming up with his head and staying low there and he is not having much success but he seems fired up
Caicedo connected with Lewis a few times with punches in that second round but he did not appear to
Lewis very sprightly on his feet
Lewis is effortlessly throwing multiple jabs while keeping a safe distance away

He is staying behind his jab and picking Caicedo off

He was comfortable in the fight and he attacked with purpose and also defended very well

FIGHT 3
The third fight, the super welterweight contest featuring Allan White and Declan Geraghty is starting now
Dubliner Geraghty has connected with some powerful shots and a nice uppercut in this first round
Geraghty getting some good jabs in here as Newry native Allan ‘The Great’ Whyte is on the back foot
Whyte is having a go and coming forward with some occasional success in what was
an entertaining first round
Geraghty started like a train and he was well on top throughout the first round

That was a massive punch from Declan Geraghty there which rocked Whyte
Whyte is taking a lot of punishment in this fight so far as the third round be
Whyte has a facial cut and his face has been pummeled
Geraghty is throwing some huge punches here as he goes for the knockout.
The cut above Whyte’s eye might be a problem as the fourth and final round begins

Geraghty has his hands down by his side and he is attacking at will with little need for a defence
There was some confusion over the length of the fight in advance and there will be fifth and sixth rounds

Allan Whyte has shown remarkable resilience during this contest but Dubliner Geraghty has dominated this fifth round again
Whyte has done well to survive, especially with the cut above his eye, but Geraghty is the far more skilfull fighter

The sixth and final round has ended with Geraghty dominant throughout with lots of heart from Whyte to go the distance

FIGHT 4
Senan Kelly is up next against Dale Arrowsmith in the fourth fight of the night, a welterweight contest
Leixlip fighter Kelly has had seven previous fights and won all seven with two knockouts
Arrowsmith, from Lancashire, is taking place in his 115th fight
Kelly is on the front foot and dominating the centre of the ring
He has connected with some nice jabs in this first round with Arrowsmith retreating for the majority of the round
The second round is starting here and Kelly has started quickly once again.
Arrowsmith throws a nice combination and he connects with Kelly
Some nice body shots from Kelly who is working hard and throwing a flurry of punches
Kelly has been very dominant in the first two rounds
Arrowsmith is not coming forward and he is showing very little ambition
A nice combination from Kelly to the head and body there as he lands multiple shots
Kelly utterly dominant during the first three rounds.
The fourth round has just begun with Kelly attacking once again and delivering a right and left shot to the body followed by an uppercut
Arrowsmith constantly retreating and covering himself up as Kelly pursues him

That was probably Arrowsmith’s best round in terms of his movement and ambition, however, Kelly was comfortably on top once again
The sixth and final round has begun with Kelly chasing Arrowsmith down

FIGHT 6
Bray fighter Matthew Tyndall up next against Polish fighter Jakub Laskowski in a welterweight contest
Some good body shots from Tyndall and a bright start with both fighters going for it

The first round has been well contested with both fighters having some joy and landing good shots
Some decent jabs from Laskowski as Tyndall responds with some good counter shots to the body
Huge support from Tyndall here tonight but the second round has been scrappy with fleeting moments of quality
Laskowski is throwing from distance and having some success but Tyndall has a strong defence and has not been hurt
Great left shot by Tyndall who is countering impressively and landing as Laskowski punches thin air
The first three rounds have been entertaining
Tyndall has looked the more impressive but Laskowski is giving him plenty to think about

The fifth round is about to start and Tyndall has been convincing so far
Laskowski is not landing many punches but he is on the front foot and going after Tyndall who lands an eye-catching uppercut

FIGHT 7
Shane Meehan up next versus Sean Murray in the sixth fight of the night, a middleweight contest
Dubliner Meehan has one fight and one win in his professional career as does Navan fighter Murray
Good right hand shot from Murray but Meehan responds with a solid body shot
Sean Murray spun off Shane Meehan and fell to the canvas, however, the referee confirms it wasn’t a knockdown
A nice jab to the head by Meehan before a counter punch from Murray

The second round was explosive with Meehan delivering some powerful shots to his opponent’s head, while Murray also connected and landed some impressive shots in this closely contested fight

FIGHT 8
Offaly boxer Paul Loonam, who is making his professional debut, is up next against Romanian Stefan Nicolae
A solid start to Loonam with a massive punch to Nicolae’s head that shook him during a dominant opening
Loonam’s speed and technical ability is highly impressive
A good flurry of body shots from the Offaly man who landed multiple times
Loonam starting the second round impressively
Nicolae missing with a lot of wild shots

Some great jabs with very impressive footwork

The experienced journeyman is trying hard but he looks very tired

MAIN EVENT
Clare man David Ryan up in the main event against Dubliner Tony McGlynn in a light welterweight title fight over eight rounds
Ryan, from Shannon, is unbeaten with five wins from five fights, while McGlynn also has a perfect record with four wins
A brilliant first round with McGlynn and Ryan going all out in the first round.
McGlynn landed the bigger shots but Ryan connected with some of his own
McGlynn lands a big left hand shot followed by a right and knocks down Ryan after about 15 seconds of the second round
Ryan was up quickly and he responded well with both fighters exchanging some huge shots
It is a hugely enjoyable fight, the first three rounds have been all out war
Ryan had some big shots in the third round but McGlynn also landed some neat jabs
McGlynn landed three impressive shots one after the other to rock Ryan in the fourth round but Ryan recovered well
A very close contest
Ryan is putting huge pressure on McGlynn, the more technical fighter
Both fighters are landing some impressive shots, McGlynn had some bright moments with quality jabs
Ryan was on top near the end with some powerful shots that rocked McGlynn
Some quality right hand punches from McGlynn at the start of the sixth round and Ryan has a cut above his eye
Both fighters traded huge punches in that round
McGlynn and Ryan both had bright spells in the seventh round but Ryan landed two huge punches to the body that shook McGlynn
Ryan was on top in the eighth round and finished the stronger but McGlynn was resolute and resilient and connected with some decent jabs.
The fight is over, a fantastic contest with both fighters deserving huge credit
McGlynn has been given the decision by 78 points to 73
The Dubliner wins the light welterweight title
It appeared to be a very close fight and Ryan and his corner seemed upset by the decision and the scorecard
But it was a wonderful fight
