Anto Cacace targets big fights and Bernie celebrations

Anthony Cacace shouted ‘show me the money’ and is ready to cash in after he shows Bernie his new title.

The much heralded talent finally got the major fight many felt he deserved, when he challenged Michael Magnesi for the IBO super featherweight world title in Manchester on Saturday night.

And just like many in the know boxing enthusiast predicted, ‘The Apache’ proved his world-level credentials by claiming victory, out pointing a previously undefeated champion on the Joyce Parker undercard last Saturday night.

The win should open up doors for the Belfast fighter in a division that has been blown wide open by Shakur Stevenson vacating both the WBO and WBC titles.

The 33-year-old could soon be in the frame for a shot at one of the more recognized titles and more importantly for him some bigger financial windfalls.

“I want to fight for the WBO and the WBC. They were vacated by Stevenson. Give me them next fight,” Cacace told Queensberry after his win.

“More importantly I’ve three kids at home that need fed, so lets get me the money fights. These belts are nice but the money is better, so thats what I want,” he added before declaring he is ready for any super featherweight in the world.

“Any of them. It does not matter who. Any of them.”

Before Cacace reviews his future options in more dept he will spend time with his family and pay a visit to the now famous Bernie.

The Frank Warren fighter wants to show the lady who takes care of him during his camps in Carrickfergus his new strap.

“I was away from home for three months, away from the kids, away from everything. I have a wee woman down there in Carrickfergus that looks after me, Bernie, I love her to death. I stay in a caravan, she looks after me and makes everything easy for me. I can’t wait to bring this back and show her.”

Refelcting on the fight and the win Cacace added: “Hard fight, hard fighter, I take my hat off to Michael Magnesi. He left it all in the ring. I’m just absolutely over the moon to be bringing [the IBO title] home to Belfast.

“He could punch but he couldn’t get in on me. I was keeping it long and when he did get close I was tieing him up, making it an ugly fight, which it needed to be. The game plan worked out perfect. By any means necessary.”
