Connor Coyle sets up ‘Big Domestic Fight’ with Florida Win

Connor Coyle navigated his way past a potential banana skin to set up a big fight last night.

The Derry middleweight defeated  Silverio Ortiz on the Tampa Beatdown card at the Alessi Gym in Tampa, Florida to maintain his unbeaten status.

The experienced Mexican put up stubborn resistance and took ‘The Kid’ the distance in a relatively one-sided fight.

The 32-year-old world ranked fighter is scheduled to defend his recently acquired NABA title against Argentine Wenceslao Mansilla in Lowell in October but when speaking to Irish-boxing.com recently hinted something bigger may be next.

“I think the big fights are here now, after this fight this weekend we’ll have a big fight,” he told Irish-boxing.com before adding “Domestic fight, UK,” when pushed further.

In fact, Irish-boxing.com understands a fight with an British middleweight could be confirmed as early as this week.

Coyle improves to 17-0 with the victory and his Mexican opponent slips to 37-32.
