Countdown King Carl Frampton’s Magic Maths
Carl Frampton showed he has more than just a boxing brain when he appeared on the famous Channel 4 show Countdown.
The fighter known for counting out opponents was the celeb guest alongside Susie Dent in dictionary corner during a recent run of episodes – and enjoyed a top-of-the-class moment.
The former two-weight world champion and one of Ireland’s greatest-ever boxers produced some magical math, solving a problem that had the two contestants stumped.
Both players were unable to get to 698 after the six numbers drawn were 75, 7, 8, 10, 4 and 2 and ‘The Jackal’ stepped up to champion to upstage them.
He worked his way to the total and celebrated like he’d won a world title much to the delight of the live studio audience.
Speaking to Belfast live he said: “It was a great experience.
“I’ve done things in TV studios before and there was no audience so maybe that helped, but it wasn’t nerve-wracking or anything, and the fact that I was confident I was going to be helped along made things a wee bit easier for me.
“It was a great day, you do five shows and get them all done in one day, so I’m looking forward to seeing what it actually comes out like and I feel like I didn’t let myself down!”
He added: “If I was in the house at that time I would have stuck it on because I don’t mind doing wee things like that because I feel like the odd thing like that every now and again keeps your brain active, especially when you’re not doing much with it.
“I’m probably equally as bad [at numbers and letters] but I’d say I’m slightly better with numbers than with letters.”
