‘You’ll see’ – Nathasa Jonas ready to show Katie Taylor is ‘human’ not an ‘unbeatable’ ‘indestructible’ force

She’s only human after all.

That’s the approach Natahsa Jonas [9(7)-1(1)-1] is taking into her massive May 1 clash with undisputed lightweight world champion Katie Taylor [17(6)-0].

The Liverpool native rematches her Olympic defeater on the undercard of Derek Chisora and the now Andy Lee trained Joseph Parker’s heavyweight clash in Manchester – and goes into the clash full of confidence.

The former Team GB star claims the ‘aura’ around the Irish sensation was burst by Delfine Persoon and is adamant the trailblazer isn’t undebeatable.

“I think certain boxers have auras around them, like Canelo, like Taylor, like Lomachenko,” Jonas told Sky Sports. “You think, ‘They’re unbeatable, they’re indestructible.’ Then someone comes along and beats them, and just shows that they are human.

“I think Persoon has shown that in Katie, that she is just human, and when I step into the ring with her on May 1, I’m not stepping into the ring with the aura and what everybody else believes. I’m stepping in against another human,” she adds before claiming she goes into the fight pressure-free.

“Nothing to lose and everything to gain. There’s no pressure on me whatsoever and I’ll be putting my best foot forward. I just hope she is too.”

The recent super featherweight world title challenger also points to the fact she has performed as the underdog in her last fight against Terri Harper – and claims she will prove any doubters wrong again in under two weeks time.

“I love proving people wrong, and I love proving other people right,” she continues.

“Me and [trainer] Joe (Gallagher) were saying before the Harper fight, there’s nothing that she does that’s better than me, and nobody believed it. Nobody believed that I could win, nobody. I was saying, ‘Okay, we’ll see.’

“That’s exactly the same for this fight. Okay, you don’t believe it. I don’t need you to see it. I don’t need you to believe it, but I’m telling you, ‘You’ll see.'”
