LIVE big-time boxing returns to Irish television screens

It’s most likely a once off but live big time boxing returns to Irish television next week.

eir Sport have picked up the rights to show Dennis Hogan’s massive fight next Wednesday morning.

‘The Hurricane’ will fight rising Australian star Tim Tszyu, the son of fight legend Kostya, in the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia on Wednesday, March 31.

The fight is being built Down Under as a coming of age clash for thier newest fight star.

It’s been suggested the undefeated 26-year-old will prove himself the best light middleweight in Australia by overcoming a Hogan test before going on to fight for the WBO 154lbs world title.

Hogan, who goes into the fight on the back of back-to-back world title defeats, has become somewhat annoyed by the narrative around the fight and has become uncharacteristically vocal, even claiming he will make the Tszyu look ordinary.

Victory for the Kilcullen fighter could see him hijack the Aussies world title plans and move him a step closer to a second shot at the WBO light middleweight strap.

The eagerly anticipated bad blood bout is now available to view on Irish TV via eir Sport after DDP Sports secured the Irish rights for the clash to make it available to Irish fight fans.

Official details regarding broadcast time have yet to be confirmed but it’s expected the fight will be broadcast around 10:00am Irish time.

Confirming the news to Irish-boxing.com DDP Sports Pual Keegan described it a massive win for Irish fight fans.

“I’m excited that we were able to bring the fight to Irish tv with eir Sport who have been huge supporters of Irish boxing. I would like to thank No Limit boxing in Australia for passing the Irish rights to us.

“Dennis was adamant that this fight be broadcast live in Ireland so I’m excited for his family friends and all boxing fans that we can all watch him next Wednesday morning. Our goal was to always get this fight live on Irish tv but in the current climate it’s never easy to do, so this is great. Unfortunately, Irish fight fans can’t get to see Irish fighters live so this is a win for all of us.”
