Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan to fight on BT Sports August card

Carl Frampton and Michael Conlan will fight in separate fights on the same London card in early August reports the Irish News.

The Belfast duo could close in on world titles shots with wins on a Frank Warren promoted BT Sports broadcast card in just over a months time.

Considering ‘The Jackal’ has requested to be out before mid August it’s likely the duo will appear on the first weekend of the eight month of the year.

Opponents have yet to be confirmed or even rumoured for the two Belfast stars, but if the behind closed door card is to follow the example of the ones already announced it’s likely domestic opposition awaits.

The Top Rank fighters both saw summer Belfast world title fights fall through due to the pandemic.

Frampton was all set to challenge WBO super featherweight world champion Jamel Herring on June 13, a bout that was being lined up for Windsor Park, while Conlan looked on course to fight for the vacant WBO featherweight strap at the Feile in August.

Former two weight world champion, Frampton’s three weight world title bid remains alive and well – and if both he and Jamel Herring, who tested positive for Covid 19 last week, come through keep busy encouthers they should meet late this year or early next year.

It’s also believed Conlan remains close to securing a world title fight. Indeed, the fighter with a world ranking with every organisation is confident he will challenge in either December or March of next year.

If he is to go the WBO route it looks like a mouthwatering clash with Emanuel Navarrete awaits.

Anthony Cacace is already confirmed as a BT Sports studio headliner. The Belfast fighter will defend his super featherweight British title against Leon Woodstock on the second of Warren’s summer cards.

Edward Donovan has confirmed he will also fight in the BT Sports studio and will debut on a yet to be confirmed card, while Queensbury middleweight prospect Caoimhin Agyarko is also said to have secured a clash on one of the shows.
