Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan [30(21)-3(2)]believes his clash with Jaime Munguia [34(27)-0] will be a modern classic.

The Cork Rebel and the Mexican gunslinger will shoot it out at the Alamodome in Texas as soon as January 11.

The come forward aggressive nature both brings to the ring has prompted most to predict an entertaining fight all action bout.

‘Spike’ certainly agrees as the 35-year-old predicts a fight that will so good it will be remembered for quite some time.

“I believe this fight will be a war that the fans will talk about for many years to come,” said the popular Pascal Collins trained fighter.

The fact Munguia wanted the fight at middleweight means his WBO light middleweight world title won’t be on the line.

It leaves just a named scalp up for grabs for the Mahon man, but the lack of an attainable trinket hasn’t dampened the desire of ‘Spike’.

In fact the Mexican style inspired O’Sullivan claims he has never been more excited or motivated for a fight.

“For me it’s a dream come true to fight the undefeated champion of the world and the number one ranked fighter in the world,” added the Murphys Boxing man.

“It makes it even better that he’s Mexican. I grew up watching the great Mexican champions and to get the opportunity to fight Jaime is an honor.

“I will leave no stone unturned in my preparation for this fight. I can’t recall feeling more motivated by any other fight in my career thus far.”
