‘Hitman’ takes out another foe – McKenna continues knockout start
It took it a little longer than usual, but Stevie McKenna registered another stoppage victory on Saturday night.
The Monaghan prospect had accounted for his first three pro foes within the first round, but was taken past the second bell in America this time around.
Gonzalo Carlos Dallera [6(5)-7(6)] took the Smithborough native into the second stanza for the first time in his career, but couldn’t extend the fight much further.
Early in the second round of a Hawaiian Gardens hosted clash, the older of the two boxing brothers made the Argentine pay for a period of aggression, McKenna landed a beautifully timed body shot.
His foe felt the pain took a step back and the ‘Hit Man’ stepped it up. Sensing his opponent was hurt the Sheer Sports fighter went for the kill and took out Dallera.

The stoppage was the 22-year-old light welterweight’s fourth from four fights and his fourth win in just seven months as a pro.
That will most likely be McKenna done for the year, but he looks certain to be kept busy in 2020.
