The Champ is back in the ‘promised land’-
The Champ is home and back in the “promised land.”
Carl Frampton returned to Belfast on Saturday a week after he made history to become only the second Irish fighter to win World titles at two different weights.
‘The Jackal’ didn’t quite come home to the same fanfare as his manager Barry McGuigan received when hundreds of thousands filled the streets after he won the same WBA strap in Loftus Road by defeating Eusebio Pedroza 31 years ago.
However, Frampton’s historic win won’t go unrecognised and the now pound for pound star does look set to receive the hero’s welcome he deserves.
Stormont’s Department for Communities has said it was “currently considering how it can best recognise Carl Frampton’s achievements on Saturday night”, with further details to be revealed in the near future.
