Joyce takes big step along the Road to Rio

David Oliver Joyce kept his Olympic Dream alive in Turkey this afternoon.

The Mullingar puncher took another step along the Road to Rio by defeating Vazgen Safaryants of Belarus in their lightweight bout this afternoon. 

Joyce became the first male fighter through to the semi final’s of the European Olympic qualifiers.

Joyce lost the first round of his quarter final clash but stormed back to claim the second and third rounds.
