Murphy’s Boxing will be going all out to secure Stephen Ormond a World title fight in 2016 according to the Drop Kick Murphy’s and Murphy’s boxing front man Ken Casey.
The Rock fights Marcos ‘El Tigre” Jimenez (21-6 14KOs) for the Lightweight IBF Intercontinental Championship. at the House of Blues Boston on March 19 and is keen to get one of the lightweight champions this year.
The Dubliner is pushing for a fight with the winner of Terry Flanagan and Derry Matthews March 22 WBO world title fight, but Queensberry Promotion’s Francis Warren was non committal when pushed about a potential Ireland versus England World title fight in Dublin last week.
However, Team Ormond are determined to make this Ormond’s year and his promoters claim March 17, a fight night which will play host to Steve Collins Jr and Niall Kennedy fights, will be step one on a 2016 World title trail.
