Big Tommy McCarthy will be provided a big chance to make a big statement in the cruiserweight division in his home town on April 30th.

The Belfast prospect looks set to be confirmed on the rumoured April 30 Matchroom Belfast show that will be topped by bantamweight starlet Ryan Burnett.

The former Irish amateur heavyweight champion seems a natural fit for the card and a victory live on Sky Sports will not just expose him to a wider audience, but will move him significantly closer to a British title shot.

The big-punching fan favourite has impressed since turning over with eight wins, including victory over Courtney Fry and his manager Pat Magee told the Belfast Newsletter big news is on the way.

“There should be an announcement this week about Tommy’s next fight. He is coming along well and we are looking to keep moving him along.

“He had four fights last year and we want to keep him active,” he added.
