Ian Tims is the latest Irish fighter to benifit from MGM’s Dublin take over.
‘The Tank’ will fight at the Roadstone on February 5 on a card that includes the likes of Sean Turner, Gerard Whitehouse and Steve Collins Jr.
The former Irish amateur heavyweight champion was promised more fights by MGM if he over came the challenge of Micheal Sweeney on their ‘Second COming’ card in November and have remained true to their word as the Celtic Warrior Gym puncher returns to action early this year.
The former Irish cruiserweight champion, although Tims will always remind you he never lost the belt in the ring, hasn’t really had a consistent run of fights since turning pro in 2008.
The former Irish international, who holds an amateur win over current European champion Tony Bellew, had two fights at the tail end of 2014 two, but didn’t fight in 2013.
He had to wait until the end of of last year to return, but is benefiting from a clean bill of health and the fact there are now regular shows in Dublin and at 37 the former EU cruiserweight title challenger may indeed be afforded the chance to work toward one more big fight.
MGM also confirmed Shane Neary’s son JJ Metcalfe and MGM Manchester´s Tsifhiwa Manyai will also appear on the bill and claim the debt of talent on a show just 24 hours before the ‘Clash of the Clans’ fight night is anything but an average small hall show.
MGM Promotions said, “We feel that this card is giving the Irish boxing fans what they want, it’s full of top talent and is certainly not a traditional small hall show”.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from the boxers themselves or by emailing info@mgm.com.es; €40 standard ticket and €60 ringside ticket.
