RUMOURS are rife Stephen Ormond is days away from confirming a fight on the massive Thomond Showdown Card.
The lightweight World title hopeful looks set to compete in one of the eight Andy Lee versus Billy Joe Saunders undercard fights.
‘The Rock’ will most likely fill one of Frank Warrens four permitted undercard slots in what is rumoured to be a ‘significant’ clash.
If Ormond has secured a shot on the massive Stadium title clash it will certainly be welcome news to his fans. The Celtic Warrior lightweight has been something of a road warrior throughout his career. His clash at the National Stadium in July was his first fight in Dublin since 2011 and a second on home soil in quick succession would be more than welcome.
Ormond’s stable mate GaryO’Sullivan is hopeful of getting on the card while Ciaran McVarnock is confirmed and Richard Towers and Belfast’s Ryan Burnett look certs for what promises to be one of the biggest nights of boxing Ireland has seen.
