Woe for Wilton as Celtic Title Clash Cancelled

Unfortunately, Belfast welterweight Matthew Wilton will not be fighting for the Celtic Title next month in Scotland.

The 25 year old was due to face unbeaten Scot Matty McAllister [10(2)-0] for the vacant title on a Cyclone Promotions run show in the Meadowbank Arena in Edinburgh on October 16th.

However it has emerged that this title fight will now no longer take place as ‘The Hawk’ has not accepted the fight.

Wilton [11(3)-0] explained to Andy Watters of the Irish News that “we were offered the fight about a month ago through the McGuigans (Cyclone Promotions) and we accepted it and then we heard that the other kid didn’t accept the fight so he’s not on the show.”

Wilton, who recently returned to the ring after a year out, will hope to fight regularly in the coming months as he targets an eventual British title shot.
