Paddy McDonagh [11(0)-2(0)] reclaimed the Irish light heavyweight title last night, defeating Steve Collins at the National Stadium.
The chief support bout on the Red Corner ‘For Honour and Pride’ card, McDonagh upset the odds to score a points win.
The Mullingar man downed Collins in the opening minute and built an unassailable lead on the scorecard before withstanding a late charge from the Dubliner.
Southpaw McDonagh took the bout on the referee’s card, with a score of 97:94 after ten rounds of action.
