Third pro show of 2018 confirmed

A new professional boxing card has been confirmed for the new year.

For the first time in almost three years, a show will take place outside the two hubs of Belfast and Dublin.

On Saturday February 17th, for the first time since the 1940s, pro boxing returns to Waterford.

Promotional newcomer Neil Power will enter the scene and run his first show – ‘Ring Kings’ – at the WIT Arena.

So far confirmed for the bill are Déise duo Rohan Daté [3(2)-0] and Craig McCarthy [2(0)-0], both former St Paul’s amateurs.

Hard-hitting welterweight Daté is currently based in Dubai, while middleweight McCarthy turned pro last month and is being progressed quickly under coach Steven O’Rourke.

More fighters are due to be announced soon, and Power described how “we have an exciting line up for you along with a huge production.”

The show in Ireland’s seventh biggest city becomes the third officially confirmed bill for 2018 – joining the MHD Promotions bill in Belfast on February 4th and the inaugural Ireland’s Last Man Standing in Dublin on March 3rd.

With Matchroom set to return for both Katie Taylor and Ryan Burnett, Queensberry having at least two big Carl Frampton nights in the pipeline, SK Promotions eyeing as many as five dates, and the Celtic Clash series continuing to build strength – it looks like we are in for a busy 2018.
